Born in 1920 in Vienna, Austria. A painter, an artist and a craftsman, books illustrator, sceneries painter and theater costumes designer.
Bergner is the son of the poet Melech Ravitch and the singer Fania Bergner. He is also the nephew of the author Hertz Bergner and the husband of the painter Audre Bergner.
When he was 17, he and his sister immigrated to Australia, where he studied at "The Academy of Art of the Victoria National Gallery", Melbourne. He also studied with the painter Hirsch Altman in Warsaw. Presented in Paris, New York and Canada and arrived to Israel in 1950.
In his art works Bergner express his soul and his being in picturesque, literary, and symbolic ways he had experienced throughout his life.
His style extends from expressionism to illusory-surrealistic paining with characteristic Israeli elements.
Bergner has illustrated books for children and adults, as well as art books. His writings and illustrations had awarded many publications. He designed sceneries and costumes for the theater, in particular for Nisim Alloni's plays.
Took part in dozens one-person exhibitions and collective exhibition, both in Israel and abroad, with great success.
